Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by remarkable biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight between approximately 40 kDa and 68 kDa and isoelectric pH between 4.9 and 7.8.
Human cytokeratins are numbered 1 to 20, and their expression patterns are related to epithelial type and degree of differentiation.
Cytokeratin subtype expression is widely used to distinguish different epithelial malignancies.
Cytokeratin antibodies are valuable tools in differential tumor diagnosis (immunohistochemistry), cytopathology, and flow cytometric assays.
