Target Information
DDX54 encodes a member of the DEAD box protein family, characterized by the conserved Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) motif. These proteins are putative RNA helicases involved in various cellular processes including translation initiation, RNA splicing, and ribosome assembly. Some family members are associated with embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cell growth. The nucleolar protein encoded by this gene interacts with nuclear receptors in a hormone-dependent manner and represses their transcriptional activity. Alternative splice variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
