Target Information
DEAD box proteins, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD), are putative RNA helicases involved in processes such as translation initiation, RNA splicing, and ribosome assembly. DDX50 may play a role in ribosomal RNA synthesis or processing. DDX50 and DDX21 share similar genomic structures and are located in tandem on chromosome 10, suggesting an origin through gene duplication. The DDX50 gene also has pseudogenes on chromosomes 2, 3, and 4. Alternative splicing of this gene generates multiple transcript variants.
