Target Information
This gene encodes a member of a well-conserved family of proteins similar to yeast Tim mitochondrial import proteins. It is encoded by a nuclear gene and transported into the mitochondrial intermembrane space. These proteins assist in guiding membrane-spanning proteins across the intermembrane space before integration into the inner membrane. The gene is located adjacent to succinate dehydrogenase subunit D (SDHD), mutations of which are associated with hereditary paraganglioma.
