Target Information
The trimeric complex of CDK7, cyclin H, and MNAT1 functions as a Cdk-activating kinase (CAK). It is an essential component of the transcription factor TFIIH, which is involved in transcription initiation and DNA repair.
This complex provides a direct link between transcription regulation and the cell cycle. The bound complex is crucial for the normal double-strand break repair function of BRCA1. CDK7 may be a target of germline cancer-inducing mutations.
