CYFIP1은 CYFIP1-EIF4E-FMR1 복합체의 구성 요소로, mRNA 캡에 결합하여 번역 억제를 매개합니다. 이 복합체에서 CYFIP1은 EIF4E와 FMR1 사이의 어댑터 역할을 하며, 특히 뇌에서 FMR1의 번역 억제 기능을 촉진합니다. 또한 막 주름 및 라멜리포디아 돌출 형성, 축삭 성장에 관여하며, F-actin에 결합하지만 RNA에는 결합하지 않습니다. 상피 형태형성 조절자로 작용하며, 암에서 침윤 억제 인자로 작용할 가능성이 있습니다.
