The antibody detects endogenous levels of total Prostein protein.
Target Information
Prostein is a novel prostate-specific protein expressed in both normal and malignant prostate tissues. It is believed to be a type IIIa plasma membrane protein with a cleavable signal peptide and 11 transmembrane-spanning regions.
Prostein expression is androgen responsive—treatment of LNCaP cells with androgen upregulates prostein message and protein expression.
Therefore, Prostein serves as a prostate-specific marker useful for diagnosing and monitoring prostate cancer.
