Target Information

Non-catalytic component of the RNA exosome complex which has 3′→5′ exoribonuclease activity and participates in multiple RNA processing and degradation events.
In the nucleus, it is involved in maturation of rRNA, snRNA, snoRNA, and in elimination of non-coding transcripts and defective mRNAs.
In the cytoplasm, it contributes to general mRNA turnover, degradation of unstable mRNAs with AU-rich elements, and RNA surveillance pathways.
It may also participate in Ig class switch recombination and somatic hypermutation by targeting AICDA activity to transcribed dsDNA substrates.
The Exo-9 core complex serves as a scaffold for catalytic subunits and accessory proteins.
