This antibody detects endogenous levels of total RPL28.
Target Information
Ribosomes are organelles responsible for catalyzing protein synthesis, consisting of a small 40S subunit and a large 60S subunit. These subunits are composed of 4 RNA species and approximately 80 structurally distinct proteins.
The RPL28 gene encodes a ribosomal protein that is a component of the 60S subunit and belongs to the L28E family. It is localized in the cytoplasm. Variable expression of this gene has been observed in colorectal cancers compared to adjacent normal tissues, though no correlation with disease severity has been established.
As is typical for ribosomal protein genes, multiple processed pseudogenes are dispersed throughout the genome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
