Target Information
TIP60 is a transcription factor originally isolated as an HIV-1 TAT-interactive protein. It interacts with the viral TAT protein, leading to HTATIP polyubiquitination and degradation. Belonging to the MYST family of histone acetyltransferases (HATs), TIP60 serves as a catalytic subunit of the NuA4 histone acetyltransferase complex, which acetylates nucleosomal histones H4 and H2A to activate transcription of select genes. As a co-regulator of transcription factors, TIP60 can either promote or suppress tumorigenesis. It also plays key roles in DNA repair, apoptosis, and signal transduction.
