Target Information
Initiation of transcription by RNA polymerase II requires the assistance of TATA box-binding protein (TBP) and TBP-associated factors (TAFs), such as TAF2B, in two distinct complexes: TFIID and B-TFIID.
The TFIID complex is composed of TBP and more than eight TAFs.
The majority of TBP, however, is present in the B-TFIID complex, which includes TBP and TAFII170 (also known as TAF172) and exhibits DNA-dependent ATPase activity.
