Target Information
The sense of taste is essential for survival, enabling organisms to distinguish between nutritious and harmful substances. Taste receptors include T1R (sweet taste) and T2R (bitter taste), both coupling to G proteins for signal transduction. T2R1 is specifically expressed in subsets of taste receptor cells in the tongue and palate epithelium, localized in gustducin-positive cells.
