Product Specific Information

The 61D3 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD14, a 53–55 kDa GPI-linked glycoprotein expressed on monocytes, interfollicular macrophages, and some dendritic cells. Complexes of LPS and LBP bind with high affinity to monocytes via CD14.

Target Information

CD14 is a 55 kDa GPI-anchored glycoprotein expressed on mature monocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. It functions as a multifunctional lipopolysaccharide receptor and is released to serum as both secreted and GPI-cleaved forms. CD14 binds LPS via LBP, enabling immune recognition and inflammatory response modulation. Soluble sCD14 discriminates structural differences in LPS and contributes to serum neutralization. CD14 also binds apoptotic cells and affects allergic, inflammatory, and infectious processes. Alternative splicing produces multiple transcript variants encoding the same isoform. Associated diseases include Mycobacterium chelonae infection and Croup.
