Target Information
Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) is a positive, single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the Flaviviridae family.
Its genome (~10,000 nucleotides) encodes a single polyprotein (~3,000 amino acids) that is processed by host and viral proteases into structural and non-structural proteins essential for replication.
Multiple genotypes of HCV exist, correlating with different responses to interferon alpha treatment.
Hepatitis C E1 is an envelope glycoprotein that forms a heterodimer with the E2 protein.
