Target Information
Bradykinin, a 9 amino acid peptide, is generated under pathophysiologic conditions such as inflammation, trauma, burns, shock, and allergy. Two types of G-protein coupled receptors bind bradykinin and mediate responses to these conditions. The protein encoded by this gene is one of these receptors, synthesized de novo following tissue injury. Receptor binding increases cytosolic calcium ion concentration, resulting in chronic and acute inflammatory responses.
