Target Information
MET (c-Met) is a receptor-like tyrosine kinase whose dysregulation is associated with various human malignancies. Upon ligand activation, MET interacts with PI3-kinase subunit PIK3R1, PLCG1, SRC, GRB2, and STAT3, leading to activation of signaling cascades such as RAS-ERK, PI3K-AKT, and PLCγ-PKC.
MET is essential for:
- Embryonic development (gastrulation, muscle and neuron development, angiogenesis, kidney formation)
- Adult processes (wound healing, organ regeneration, tissue remodeling)
Aberrant MET signaling is linked to cancers including gastric, renal, and breast, making it an important target for cancer therapeutics and diagnostics.
