Target Information
CARF (calcium-response factor), also known as ALS2CR8 or NYD-SP24, is a 725-amino-acid nuclear protein expressed in various tissues, with highest levels in the hippocampus. It is believed to function as a transcription factor associated with the p53 tumor suppression pathway. CARF interacts with ARF (ADP-ribosylation factor) to mediate ARF-p53-induced apoptotic signaling, which is involved in cell cycle regulation, cellular development, DNA damage response, and aging processes. This suggests CARF plays a role in multiple cellular events.
