Target Information
The claudin superfamily comprises numerous structurally related proteins (claudin 1–18) that are essential components of tight junctions involved in paracellular transport. These proteins are found in epithelial and endothelial cells of tight junction-bearing tissues. Claudins possess four transmembrane domains and two extracellular loops, forming tight junction strands. Claudin-11 is an oligodendrocyte-specific protein expressed in tight junctions of Sertoli cells and myelin sheaths in mice.
