Target Information
Lysyl oxidase (LOX) is a copper-containing amine oxidase that catalyzes the oxidation of primary amines to reactive aldehydes. It plays a crucial role in the formation and repair of the extracellular matrix. LOX also participates in developmental regulation, tumor suppression, cell motility, and cellular senescence. The secreted form of LOX contributes to the invasive properties of hypoxic human cancer cells, making it a key target for preventing and treating metastasis.
