Target Information
RFPL1, RFPL2, and RFPL3 (ret finger protein-like 1, 2, and 3) form a gene cluster on human chromosome 22q12.2–q13.3, sharing 95–96% identity.
These genes contribute to neocortex organization and size in primates, showing high expression in fetal neocortex and embryonic stem-cell neurogenesis.
RFPL2 (RNF79) encodes a 378-amino-acid protein, highly expressed in prostate and at lower levels in fetal kidney and liver.
Two isoforms of RFPL2 exist due to alternative splicing.
