Target Information
Muscarinic cholinergic receptors belong to the G protein-coupled receptor family. Their functional diversity arises from acetylcholine binding, mediating cellular responses such as adenylate cyclase inhibition, phosphoinositide degradation, and potassium channel regulation. These receptors influence acetylcholine effects in both central and peripheral nervous systems. Although the clinical significance of CHRM5 is not fully defined, stimulation is known to increase cyclic AMP levels.
