This antibody detects endogenous levels of FAS only when phosphorylated at Tyr291.

Target Information

FAS (Fas, CD95, APO-1) is a 46 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein functioning as a cell death receptor in the TNFR (tumor necrosis factor receptor) superfamily. It also exists in a soluble form (~26 kDa).
Upon stimulation, FAS aggregates intracellular FAS-associated death domains (FADD), forming the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC) and activating caspases. This cascade leads to apoptosis.
FAS has been shown to activate NF-kappaB, MAPK3/ERK1, and MAPK8/JNK, and is involved in proliferative signaling in fibroblasts and T cells.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants exist, some lacking the transmembrane domain and thus negatively regulating apoptosis mediated by the full-length isoform.
The Fas/Fas ligand system is implicated in diseases such as AIDS, hepatitis, and cancer, and plays a key role in antiviral immune responses.
