Target Information
CD98 (4F2) is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein that serves as the heavy chain of heterodimeric amino acid transporters (HATs).
Linked to various light chains by disulfide bonds, CD98 is responsible for cell surface expression and basolateral localization of the transporter complex in polarized epithelial cells.
It also interacts with β1 integrins, increasing their affinity for ligands.
Beyond its role in amino acid transport, CD98 is involved in cell fusion, activation, and regulation of differentiation, growth, and apoptosis.
