Target Information
The hnRNP K gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs). These RNA-binding proteins associate with heterogeneous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) and are involved in pre-mRNA processing, mRNA metabolism, and transport. While most hnRNPs are nuclear, some shuttle between the nucleus and cytoplasm. hnRNP K binds selectively to poly(C) sequences and may play a role in cell cycle progression. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
