Target Information
Immunoglobulin classes share a basic four-polypeptide chain structure consisting of two heavy chains and two light chains (kappa and lambda, each ~22.5 kDa).
Kappa and lambda differ in the antigenic properties of their constant regions, with a normal ratio of approximately 70:30.
Antibodies to the kappa or lambda light chain are useful for identifying leukemias, plasmacytomas, and certain non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.
Detection of clonality in lymphoid infiltrates indicates malignancy.
