Target Information
Oncogene ERBB4 (HER4) is a member of the type I receptor protein tyrosine kinase subfamily that includes EGFR, ERBB2, and ERBB3.
ERBB4 binds and is activated by neuregulins and other factors, inducing various cellular responses such as mitogenesis and differentiation.
It acts as a receptor for heregulin and mediates HGL-stimulated tyrosine phosphorylation.
ErbB4 regulates cellular metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
Expression is predominant in several breast carcinoma cell lines and normal tissues such as skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum.
Elevated levels in certain tumor cell lines suggest a potential role in malignancies.
