Target Information

Neurofilaments usually contain three intermediate filament proteins: NEFL, NEFM, and NEFH, which are involved in maintaining neuronal caliber. NEFH plays an important role in mature axons that is not fulfilled by the smaller NF proteins. It may also cooperate with neuronal intermediate filament proteins PRPH and INA to form neuronal filamentous networks.
