Target Information
RNA-binding protein that regulates the translation of specific target mRNA species downstream of the mTORC1 complex, depending on growth signals and nutrient availability.
Interacts with both the 3′ poly-A tails of mRNA molecules and the 7-methylguanosine cap structure of mRNAs containing a 5′TOP motif, which are involved in ribosomal protein synthesis.
Under normal nutrient conditions, LARP1 associates with ribosomes and promotes translation of 5′TOP motif-containing mRNAs, thereby regulating protein synthesis, cell growth, and proliferation.
Phosphorylation by mTORC1 modulates its binding to mRNA and translation activity.
