Target Information
Uteroglobin (also known as Clara cell phospholipid-binding protein) is a member of the Secretoglobin superfamily. It is a multifunctional protein with anti-inflammatory and anti-tumorigenic properties, binding small hydrophobic molecules such as phospholipids and prostaglandins. This small, non-glycosylated protein is highly expressed in pre-implantation embryos and secreted by non-ciliated Clara cells in pulmonary airways and other epithelial tissues. Members of the Secretoglobin family are small, secretory homo- or heterodimers with high structural conservation. Uteroglobin participates in sequestering pro-inflammatory mediators and carcinogens and has been implicated in inhibiting cell migration, invasion, platelet aggregation, and T cell differentiation.
