This gene encodes a protein that, together with Arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase-activating protein, is required for leukotriene synthesis.
Leukotrienes are arachidonic acid metabolites involved in inflammatory responses such as asthma, arthritis, and psoriasis.
The protein localizes to the plasma membrane, and inhibitors of its function block 5-lipoxygenase translocation and activation.
