Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 min at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA (pH 9.0) for 45 min at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
CD1a is a non-polymorphic MHC Class I-related cell surface glycoprotein expressed in association with beta-2 microglobulin. It is found on cortical thymocytes, Langerhans cells, dendritic cells, and certain T-cell leukemias. CD1a mediates the presentation of lipid and glycolipid antigens to T cells. The human genome contains five CD1 family genes (CD1a, b, c, d, e) on chromosome 1. CD1a localizes to the plasma membrane and early endocytic vesicles. Alternative splicing variants have been observed, though their biological significance remains undetermined.
