Target Information
CD13 (ANPEP) is a 150–170 kDa type II transmembrane zinc-binding ectopeptidase expressed on various cell types. It acts as a metalloprotease that catalyzes removal of neutral amino acids from small peptides, regulating activation or inactivation of bioactive peptides. CD13 plays roles in extracellular matrix degradation, antigen processing, and signal transduction. It is involved in inflammatory responses, intercellular contact regulation, cell motility, and vascularization. CD13 is expressed by granulocytes, monocytes, and myeloid leukemia cells, and its expression is associated with poor prognosis in carcinomas. It also functions as an aminopeptidase enzyme and serves as an alpha receptor for coronavirus.
