Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the superfamily of small heat-shock proteins containing a conserved alpha-crystallin domain at the C-terminal region. It is preferentially expressed in the heart and skeletal muscle and regulates Myotonic Dystrophy Protein Kinase, which is important for maintaining muscle structure and function.
