Target Information
BRCA1 (breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility protein 1)는 핵 내 인산화 단백질로, 유전체 안정성 유지에 관여하며 종양 억제 단백질, DNA 손상 감지 단백질, 신호 전달 인자들과 함께 BASC(BRCA1 associated genome surveillance complex)를 형성합니다.
BRCA1은 RNA polymerase II와 결합하며, C-말단 도메인을 통해 histone deacetylase 복합체와도 상호작용합니다.
이 단백질은 전사, 이중 가닥 DNA 손상 복구, 재조합에 관여합니다. BRCA1 유전자 변이는 유전성 유방암의 약 40%, 유전성 유방 및 난소암의 80% 이상을 유발합니다.
대체 스플라이싱은 BRCA1의 세포 내 위치 및 생리적 기능을 조절하며, 다양한 변이형이 보고되어 있습니다.
관련된 유사유전자가 염색체 17에서도 발견되었습니다.
