Description:
The 23C6 monoclonal antibody reacts with the human CD51/CD61 dimer (integrin αv/β3). CD51 (~120 kDa) can also associate with other β subunits (β1, β5, β6) to form receptors for extracellular matrix components. CD51/CD61 heterodimers are expressed by melanoma cells, endothelial cells, and osteoclasts, and at low levels by platelets. This complex mediates adhesion to fibrinogen, fibronectin, vitronectin, and thrombospondin.

• Blocking of adhesive processes

Applications Tested:
Tested on human melanoma cell line and peripheral blood. Use ≤1 µg/test (defined as antibody amount staining cells in 100 µL volume). Optimal concentration should be titrated per assay.

Target Information

CD51 and CD61 (integrin αV and β3) form a complex that binds vitronectin at the RGD sequence and also interacts with fibrinogen, von Willebrand factor, thrombospondin, fibronectin, osteopontin, and collagen. The complex reacts with osteoclasts, placenta, melanoma cell lines, and weakly with platelets.
