Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
The GYG1 gene encodes a member of the glycogenin family, a glycosyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of a short glucose polymer from uridine diphosphate glucose in an autoglucosylation reaction. This polymer is further elongated and branched by glycogen synthase and branching enzyme to form glycogen.
GYG1 is expressed in muscle and other tissues. Mutations in this gene result in glycogen storage disease XV. Pseudogenes are found on chromosomes 1, 8, and 13. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
