Perform heat-mediated antigen retrieval with citrate buffer (pH 6) before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
Western blot detects a band of approximately 21 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 21 kDa).
Target Information
This gene encodes a protein with a conserved RNA-binding motif. The protein is found predominantly in the nucleus but also present in the cytoplasm. It is preferentially associated with mRNAs produced by splicing, including both nuclear and newly exported cytoplasmic mRNAs. The protein likely remains associated with spliced mRNAs as a tag indicating intron positions, coupling pre- and post-mRNA splicing events.
Previously, RBM8A and RBM8B were thought to encode this protein, but RBM8B is now considered a pseudogene. Two alternative start codons produce two forms of the protein, and multiple polyadenylation sites are used.
