Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody LS17-9 recognizes mouse CD141 (Thrombomodulin, BDCA-3), a type I cell surface glycoprotein that binds and allosterically activates thrombin. This complex cleaves protein C and TAFI, initiating anticoagulant and antifibrinolytic pathways.
CD141 is highly expressed on the luminal surface of vascular endothelial cells and in the immune system on monocytes and macrophages. Soluble CD141 is present at low levels in serum and can increase during inflammation. Its anti-inflammatory activity is due to blocking thrombin-induced pro-inflammatory responses, reducing granulocyte chemotaxis, and inhibiting eosinophil and mast cell activation.
Although human CD141 is a marker for cross-presenting dendritic cells, mouse CD141 does not share the same pattern.

Target Information
Thrombomodulin (TM), also known as Fetomodulin (FM) or glycoprotein P112, is an endothelial anticoagulant protein. It contains six EGF-like domains and a lectin-like amino terminal domain. TM accelerates activation of protein C, contributing to thrombo-resistance and reducing clot formation on endothelial surfaces. Immunohistochemical staining for TM is used in studies of vascular tumors, meningiomas, and choriocarcinomas.
