- In Western blot, this antibody recognizes the short form of WNK1 (~190 kDa).
- The theoretical molecular weight of human WNK1 is approximately 251 kDa, and rat WNK1 is approximately 230 kDa.
Target Information
WNK1 serine/threonine kinase is a member of the WNK subfamily. WNK1 may regulate blood pressure by controlling sodium and chloride ion transport. Mutations in this gene are associated with pseudohypoaldosteronism type II and hereditary sensory neuropathy type II.
WNK1 plays an important role in electrolyte homeostasis, cell signaling, survival, and proliferation. It acts as both an activator and inhibitor of sodium- and potassium-coupled chloride cotransporters, respectively. WNK1 activates SCNN1A, SCNN1B, SCNN1D, and SGK1, and localizes to the distal nephron, involved in salt, potassium, and pH regulation.
