Target Information
Staufen homolog 2 (STAU2) is a member of the double-stranded RNA-binding protein family involved in the transport and localization of mRNAs to different subcellular compartments or organelles. These proteins contain multiple dsRNA-binding domains essential for binding RNAs with double-stranded secondary structures.
STAU2 shares 48.5% and 59.9% similarity with Drosophila and human staufen, respectively. Although the exact function is not fully known, it is likely involved in double-stranded RNA binding events. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
