Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the L1 family of neural cell adhesion molecules. It functions as a neural recognition molecule and may be involved in signal transduction pathways. Deletion of one copy of this gene may contribute to mental defects in patients with 3p- syndrome. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described, though their full-length nature is not fully known.
