Target Information
ETFA catalyzes the initial step of mitochondrial fatty acid β-oxidation, transferring electrons between primary flavoprotein dehydrogenases and electron transfer flavoprotein ubiquinone oxidoreductase.
Defects in ETFA are associated with type II glutaricaciduria, leading to multiple acyl-CoA dehydrogenase deficiencies and increased excretion of various organic acids.
Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
