Target Information
BCLAF1 (BCL2-associated transcription factor 1) is an intracellular, death-promoting transcriptional repressor that interacts with several members of the BCL2 protein family. It contains basic leucine zipper (bZIP) and MYB DNA-binding domains. In apoptotic cells, BCLAF1 localizes to dot-like nuclear structures and redistributes near the nuclear envelope. Overexpression induces apoptosis, which can be suppressed by co-expression of BCL2 proteins. Also known as BTF, it plays a role in proapoptotic signaling and is mainly expressed in skeletal muscle.
