Target Information
CHEK1 (CHK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase that plays a central role in maintaining genomic integrity when DNA is damaged. It mediates the DNA damage-induced checkpoint response, preventing replication under compromised conditions.
CHK1 inhibition can induce mitotic catastrophe in p53-deficient cancer cells, making it a promising therapeutic target in oncology research. Approximately 50% of human cancers are p53-deficient, highlighting the relevance of CHK1 in cancer biology.
