Target Information
PIM2 is a proto-oncogene encoding a serine/threonine kinase that phosphorylates BAD, partially inhibiting its apoptotic function. PIM proteins (PIM-1, PIM-2, PIM-3) are oncogene-encoded kinases with similar oncogenic functions. PIM-2 is highly expressed in hematopoietic tissues such as spleen, thymus, and peripheral blood leukocytes, as well as in testis, small intestine, and colon. Its expression is negatively regulated by growth factor depletion, and elevated levels have been observed in certain cancers.
