Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열에 속하며, 주로 중추신경계의 성상교세포(astrocyte)와 특정 astroglia에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 말초 신경의 위성세포, 비수초성 슈반세포, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 침샘 종양 세포, 수정체 상피 등에서도 발견됩니다.
GFAP 항체는 astrocytic cell의 마커로 널리 사용되며, 다양한 뇌종양 연구 및 신경 발달 연구에 유용합니다.
GFAP 유전자의 돌연변이는 Alexander 병과 관련이 있으며, 대체 스플라이싱으로 인해 여러 isoform이 생성됩니다.
