Target Information
SMC5는 SMC5-SMC6 복합체의 핵심 구성 요소로, 상동 재조합을 통한 DNA 이중가닥 절단 수선에 관여합니다. 이 복합체는 SMC1-SMC3 cohesin 복합체를 이중가닥 절단 부위로 모집하여 자매 염색분체 간 상동 재조합을 촉진할 수 있습니다. 또한 ALT(Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres) 세포주에서 재조합을 통한 텔로미어 유지에 필요하며, shelterin 복합체 구성 요소의 sumoylation을 매개하여 ALT 관련 PML bodies(APBs) 내에서 shelterin 복합체의 해체를 유도하는 것으로 제안됩니다. SMC5는 PML 핵소체로의 텔로미어 모집에 필요하며, 유사분열 중 자매 염색분체 응집에도 관여합니다. SMC6과는 독립적으로 작용할 수 있습니다. 또한 SMC5-SMC6 복합체는 원형 바이러스 DNA와 같은 episomal DNA의 전사를 억제할 수 있습니다.
