Target Information
Norepinephrine Transporter (NET, also known as noradrenaline transporter, NAT) is a monoamine transporter responsible for reuptake of noradrenaline from the synapse back into vesicles for storage. It also transports dopamine to a lesser extent. Reduced NET levels have been observed in the locus coeruleus of patients with major depression. NET is targeted by cocaine, amphetamines, and therapeutic antidepressants such as SNRIs and TCAs, which increase noradrenaline levels. Genetic deficits in NET have been associated with ADHD.
