Target Information
Norepinephrine Transporter (NET, or noradrenaline transporter, NAT) is a monoamine transporter responsible for reuptake of noradrenaline from the synaptic cleft back into presynaptic vesicles for storage. It also transports dopamine to a lesser extent. Decreased NET levels have been observed in the locus coeruleus of patients with major depression. NET is a pharmacological target for cocaine, amphetamines, and various antidepressants such as SNRIs and TCAs. Genetic deficits in NET have been associated with ADHD.
