Target Information
Human SPIN2 expressed by two IL3-dependent murine myeloid cell lines was moderately antiapoptotic following IL3 removal but unable to block apoptosis induced by doxorubicin. SPIN2-expressing cells were more sensitive to doxorubicin-mediated cell death and did not counteract Fas ligand-induced apoptosis in Jurkat human T-cell line.
Deletion of the C-terminal amino acids of SPIN2 diminished its antiapoptotic activity. In murine myeloid cells, SPIN2 overexpression increased cell doubling time and slowed growth rate, with a higher percentage of cells in G2/M phase, especially after IL3 withdrawal.
